I’ve always loved books. As a kid, I didn’t have access to a lot of books. As a teen, I used books to escape from the real world. As a 20-something-year-old, I use books to grow personally and professionally.
In 9th grade, I was sure I wanted to pursue CS/IT field since I also love math & tech. In 10th grade, my cousin encouraged me to apply for Microsoft’s summer internship. I applied, interviewed, but didn’t get in.
I felt pressured to find my first job at 16, but no luck. Instead, I managed to fail ENGL& 101, 2x(!), and drop my GPA from 3.89 to 3.09 in less than a year. I felt stuck. Low GPA = no good university = no good job = failure in life.
After graduation, I was so scared of failing job interviews that I wasn’t even applying anywhere.
One day I found a PDF resource for a book from one of my entrepreneurship courses, which referenced Jia‘s #RejectionTherapy videos. Jia had a perfect internship opportunity for me, but interns had to be local.
I sent him a cold-InMail anyways to see if he was open to hiring remote interns. This led to working for Jia for ~2 years, naturally wanting to post on LinkedIn, & people asking for tips. #RejectionWarrior coaching was born.
